Seat height, reach to the bars, and foot peg position are completely different between models. What looks good in photos may not fit your body. A test ride tells you in the first 60 seconds.

Valid Motorcycle License
You must hold a valid driver’s license with a Class M motorcycle endorsement. A learner’s permit or MSF course completion card alone is not sufficient — you need the full endorsement.

DOT-Approved Helmet
Texas law requires a helmet for riders under 21. For riders 21+, a helmet is required per H-D test ride policy. Look for the DOT sticker on the back — thick inner lining, solid weight, quality chin strap. We have test ride helmets available to borrow.

Eye Protection
Sunglasses, a full-face visor, or safety glasses. Wind, debris, and bugs at highway speed are real. If your helmet doesn’t have a face shield, bring a pair of glasses or goggles.

Proper Riding Attire
Long pants, a long-sleeved shirt or jacket, and closed-toe shoes that cover the ankle. No shorts, sandals, or open-toe footwear — period. Texas summer heat is not an exception to this rule.

Gloves improve grip, reduce vibration fatigue, and protect your hands in the unlikely event of a tip-over. H-D MotorClothes® gloves are available right here if you need a pair before you ride.

Texas requires a Class M endorsement on your driver’s license to legally ride — and to test ride here. Complete an MSF Basic RiderCourse, take your certificate to Texas DPS, and you’ll have your endorsement added without a separate riding test. TEST RIDE FAQ
Do I need to buy a bike to test ride one?
Absolutely not. Test rides are available with no purchase necessary and no obligation. Our only ask is that you meet the license and gear requirements. We want you on the right bike — even if that means you come back another day or choose a different model.
Can I test ride if I only have a learner’s permit?
No. Harley-Davidson® policy requires a valid motorcycle license with a Class M endorsement to test ride any motorcycle. A learner’s permit or MSF course completion card does not qualify. If you’re working toward your endorsement, complete the MSF Basic RiderCourse, take the certificate to Texas DPS, and then come back — we’ll be here.
What if I don’t have a helmet?
A DOT-approved helmet is required to test ride. If you don’t have one, we carry H-D MotorClothes® helmets right here in the dealership. Try one on before your ride — proper fit matters as much as the DOT rating. We can also let you borrow one of our test ride helmets!
How long is a typical test ride?
Test rides typically run 15 to 30 minutes on real roads around our Bedford location. You’ll get time on surface streets and highway-speed roads so you can feel how the bike performs in the conditions you’d actually ride in.
Can I test ride more than one model?
Yes, and we encourage it. Riding back-to-back is the fastest way to understand the difference between a Street Glide and a Road Glide, or a Fat Boy and a Low Rider S. Talk to our team when you arrive and we’ll set up whatever makes sense based on availability that day.
Do I need to make an appointment or can I just walk in?
Appointments are recommended so we can have your preferred model ready and paperwork prepared. That said, walk-ins are welcome and we’ll do our best to accommodate you on the spot based on availability. Call ahead at (817) 267-2646 if you’re planning to walk in and we’ll let you know what’s ready.
Is there an age requirement for test rides?
Yes. You must be 18 or older to test ride a Harley-Davidson® at our dealership. You also need a valid Class M license — not just a permit. Texas requires riders under 21 to wear a helmet by law; our test ride policy requires a DOT helmet for all riders regardless of age.
Can a passenger ride along during the test ride?
In most cases, passengers are not permitted during standard dealership test rides. This is consistent with H-D test ride policy. If two-up riding comfort is important to your buying decision, mention it to our team — we can walk you through the ergonomics, seat specs, and passenger accommodations on the models you’re considering.
What if I’ve never ridden a Harley before?
That’s exactly why test rides exist. First-time Harley riders are welcome — as long as you hold a valid Class M endorsement. Our team will walk you through the controls, switches, and any features specific to the model before you leave the lot. There’s no judgment and no pressure.
