STANDARD SELL OR TRADE - CLEAR TITLE
Original Texas Title (signed)
The seller must sign the back of the title in all required fields. All owners listed on the front of the title must sign as seller. Do not sign in the wrong section — it voids the title.
Valid Government-Issued Photo ID
Texas driver’s license or state ID. Must match the name on the title exactly.
Form 130-U (we provide this)
Application for Texas Title and/or Registration. We complete and file this on your behalf — you just sign.
Service Records (recommended)
Not required, but documented maintenance history strengthens your appraisal and often raises the offer.
IF YOU STILL OWE MONEY ON THE BIKE (LIEN)
Lender Account Number & Contact Info
We contact your lender directly to obtain the exact 10-day payoff amount. You don’t have to do this yourself.

We Handle the Lien Release
If your trade value exceeds the payoff, you keep the difference. If it doesn’t, we roll the remaining balance into your new financing. Either way, we pay off the lender and obtain the lien release directly.
Note: You Won’t Have the Physical Title
When there’s an active lien in Texas, the lienholder holds the title. That’s normal — we work directly with your lender. Don’t let this stop you from coming in.
IF YOUR TITLE IS LOST OR MISSING
Apply for a Certified Copy (Form VTR-34)
Submit to a TxDMV Regional Service Center. Fee is $2 by mail or $5.45 in person. Only the current owner or lienholder can apply.
Plan for Processing Time

OUT OF STATE TITLE OR RECENTLY PURCHASED BIKE
Out-of-State Title
We accept titles from all 50 states. The title must be signed by all listed owners. Some out-of-state titles require notarization — call us to confirm before coming in.
Bill of Sale
If you recently purchased the bike privately, bring the bill of sale. It’s not always legally required in Texas, but it protects you and speeds up the process.
Odometer Disclosure (bikes under 10 years old)
Texas requires an odometer disclosure on the title or Form 130-U for vehicles less than 10 model years old. We handle this as part of our standard paperwork.
UNDERSTANDING LIENS ON A MOTORCYCLE TITLE
A lien on your title means a lender (bank, credit union, or finance company) has a financial interest in your motorcycle because it was used as collateral for a loan. Here’s what that means for your trade or sale:
-The lienholder’s name appears on the title — you can’t transfer ownership until the lien is released-
-In Texas, if there’s an active lien, the lienholder physically holds the title — you won’t have it in hand
-We pay off your lender directly as part of the transaction and obtain the lien release on your behalf
-If your bike is worth more than you owe, you receive the difference as cash or trade credit
-If you owe more than the bike is worth (negative equity), we can roll the balance into your new H-D financing
We will not purchase a motorcycle with a salvage title, theft record, or total loss history

WHAT AFFECTS YOUR MOTORCYCLE'S TRADE VALUE
Mileage
Lower mileage consistently drives stronger offers. That said, a high-mileage bike with thorough service records often appraises better than a lower-mileage bike with no documentation at all.
Condition
Both cosmetic and mechanical condition are assessed. Clean chrome, no scratches, good tires, and a bike that starts strong will always command more than one that needs work.
Service Records
Documented oil changes, tune-ups, and maintenance history build confidence in the bike’s long-term reliability. Bring every receipt you have — it matters at appraisal time.
Modifications
Factory-compliant upgrades (Stage 1 kits, upgraded exhausts, premium audio) can add value. Heavy custom builds or modifications that make the bike harder to resell can reduce it.
Timing & Season
Spring and early summer bring peak demand in Texas — and typically the strongest appraisal values. Trading before a new model-year announcement can also protect your value.
Market Demand
Some models hold value far better than others. Grand American Touring bikes — Street Glide, Road Glide — consistently retain strong demand in the DFW market.

Do you buy bikes that aren’t Harley-Davidson?

Do I have to buy a bike to trade mine in?

What if I still owe money on my bike?

Does trading in my bike save me money on Texas sales tax?
Yes. Under Texas motor vehicle sales tax law, when you trade in a vehicle as part of a motorcycle purchase, the trade-in value is deducted from the taxable purchase price of the new bike. You pay 6.25% sales tax on a lower number — a real, meaningful saving on top of your trade value itself.
